Description
How do therapists best help partners through one of the most challenging transitions of their lives?
Join PACT faculty Joy Dryer, PhD Clinical Psychologist and Certified Divorce Mediator, for an interactive workshop that breaks new ground in applying PACT’s principles to the separation or divorce process. Dr. Joy integrates the PACT domains of secure functioning ( A-B-C = attachment, brain science, co-regulation) with the three stages of uncoupling (assessing, deciding, separating).
Participants will learn how transference and countertransference can be applied to their own clinical intuition. Dr. Joy shows how creating a neutral “third space” helps partners more effectively communicate, regulate emotions, and manage conflict and difference with compassion. Attendees will gain practical tools to help couples ask the right questions and together decide the direction of their relationship, whether to remain coupled or to UNcouple.
Dr. Joy will present a case example and then guide participants in exploring the complexities of their own cases, helping clinicians apply the same principles. Through lecture, discussion, Q&A, and small group breakout rooms, clinicians will learn how to better support clients through one of life’s most difficult transitions.
