This class focuses on the unique challenges and needs of the aging population, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the aging process. Through interactive discussions, participants will explore categories of seniors, learn strategies for enhancing quality of life, and differentiate between Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Practical advice will be shared on managing declining functionality, both for seniors and their caregivers. The course will also cover caregiver support, emphasizing their well-being and strategies for coping with the loss of loved ones.
About the Presenter:
Ephraim Turner, LMSW, graduated from Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 2013, specializing in Gerontology. He has experience as a clinician and as a Case Manager working with the senior population.
Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between the various stages of aging, from early senior years to advanced old age, and identify the unique needs associated with each stage.
- Demonstrate effective techniques for supporting seniors physical, emotional, and social needs to improve quality of life.
- Assess the diverse needs of senior clients and develop personalized care plans to address health, cognitive function, and daily living.
