Class 1

Psychodrama Interventions with Adults, Couples, and Children: The Basics

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

Most often used in groups, Psychodrama and Sociometry are part of a powerful experiential modality first used by Jacob L. Moreno (ref). In this course, participants will learn the basic history of this modality, and will leave with 8 basic skills that can readily be applied in sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to be a part of the interventions while they are being taught, as the course is almost entirely experiential as well.

(Trainer, Bruchy Moskovics is a psychotherapist and Child Life Specialist. She is training in the psychodrama modality under several premiere clinicians, including Dr. Tian Dayton, a direct student of Zerka Moreno. Bruchy runs psychodrama groups and utilizes this technique in group work, individual work, as well as with couples and children.)

3 Hours

Class 2

The Intersection of Faith and Intimate Partner Abuse (3 CE Credits - Cultural Competence)

1:45 PM - 4:45 PM EST

Faith or religious beliefs can present a barrier to safety for individuals experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). Likewise, many people outline their faith and beliefs as justifications for abusive behaviors. This workshop will provide a foundational understanding of the intersection of faith and IPV. Participants will gain strategies to support survivors as they navigate safety, their identified obligations to their religious beliefs, and their associated emotions.

This workshop will also address worker cultural humility and the need for culturally appropriate intervention strategies addressing the intersections of faith/religion, gender identity, race/culture and intimate partner violence.

(Trainer, Chandra Dawson, LISW, LCSW is a social worker with over 20 years of social work practice serving various marginalized populations primarily comprised of communities of color.  She has years of organizational experience including crisis intervention, supervision, training, project management and senior leadership within organizations serving domestic violence and sexual assault survivors as well as numerous marginalized populations. She too is the founder/consultant of The MACRO Project where she supports organizations in meeting the trauma-informed intersectional needs of individuals and communities.)
