Substance Use Disorder:
Treatment Trends and Current Modalities

This is a class designed to help broaden the knowledge base of clinicians not well versed in SUDs. Identification of underlying SUDs will be addressed a well as change's in the field over he past 20 years. Changes in the field include the following.  

  • Diagnosis
  • Legitimization and licensure
  • Identification of co-occurring disorders
  • Acceptance of psychotropic medications
  • Use of MAT (medically assisted treatment)
  • Different treatment modalities and levels of care
  • Length of stay
  • Different treatment philosophies
  • Corporate Take over of Treatment

Identification of underlying substances use issues in clients presenting with  primary mental health concerns will be addressed. Conversely, identification of underlying mental health issues in clients presenting with primary substance use concerns will also be addressed.
