Class A 

Co-Occurring Disorders: Understanding and Integrating 12 Step Recovery with Counseling Theories (3 CE Credits) 

In the past, substance use disorders were often treated separately from other psychiatric conditions, leading the addictions field to develop its own distinct recovery approach. While integration between mental health and substance use treatment has improved, challenges remain—particularly when co-occurring diagnoses hinder progress in one area or another. This interactive presentation helps clinicians deepen their understanding of how 12-Step recovery principles align with various psychological and counseling theories. Participants will explore how to flexibly apply these complementary tools to better meet clients' individual needs and support their recovery goals.

 

(Trainer, Blanca Sanchez-Navarro, LPC-S, LCDC, based in Austin, Texas, brings over 35 years of experience as a counselor, clinical supervisor, and presenter. She has worked extensively in the field of addiction treatment and served as a professional counselor at the Texas State University Counseling Center. Blanca has delivered hundreds of workshops at university, state, regional, and national conferences. Her broad experience with diverse populations and clinical issues informs her dynamic, engaging presentations, which are known for their practical, real-world application.)

Introduction to Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (3 CE Credits)  

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), including depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions experienced during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Participants will gain an understanding of the various types of PMADs, their risk factors, signs and symptoms, and effective screening tools. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of early identification, appropriate referrals, and culturally sensitive care to improve maternal mental health outcomes. The course will also explore evidence-based treatment options, including psychotherapy, pharmacology, and support systems for both the parent and their family.

 

(Trainer, Rebecca Canzonieri, LCSW-C, LICSW, PMH-C, is a clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience specializing in women’s mental health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). With both advanced training and personal insight, she is deeply committed to supporting individuals navigating the unique and often overlooked challenges of the perinatal period. Rebecca maintains a private practice focused on PMADs and also provides outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient groups, and employee assistance program services at a local hospital. Licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., she is dedicated to educating fellow clinicians, raising awareness, and advocating for improved care and understanding in this vital area of mental health.)

Ethical Decision Making: Navigating Complex Cases (3 CE Credits – Ethics)

Description: Have you faced complex ethical dilemmas in your practice? Clinicians are often faced with “grey areas” when confronted with ethically complicated cases. This workshop explores the nature of complex ethics challenges in the mental health field. Specific types of ethical dilemmas that clinicians may face will be presented. Case examples will highlight the complexities and nuances of situations that clinicians face in practice. Learners will be introduced to thorough ethical decision-making frameworks. Learn about ethical decision making in healthcare, schools, mental health settings, and community settings. Gain valuable knowledge, skill, and confidence in leaning into complex ethical dilemmas with professionalism and wisdom.

 

(Trainer, Diane Bigler, LCSW, LSCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri and Kansas with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. She has held clinical positions as an outpatient and in-home therapist and clinical supervisor. Diane was an Adjunct Professor of Social Work for 10 years at The University of Kansas, School of Social Welfare and a Field Liaison and Field Instructor, and has been a professional development trainer for over 10 years)

Intimate Partner Violence: Intervention, Safety Planning, and Impact on Children (3 CE Credits) 

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a widespread and multifaceted issue that affects individuals and families across all cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. This webinar is designed to equip clinicians with the knowledge, skills, and tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to IPV with compassion and effectiveness. Participants will learn how to provide nonjudgmental support and implement interventions that disrupt the cycle of abuse. Special attention will be given to the impact of IPV on children of all ages—including unborn children—highlighting the critical need to address IPV within all families, especially those who cannot advocate for themselves.

 

(Trainer, Tonya M. Logan, LCSW-C, LICSW, brings over 30 years of clinical experience supporting individuals facing conflict and trauma. Based in D.C. and Maryland for much of her career, she has worked extensively with biological and foster families to secure permanency through reunification, adoption, or independent living. As a former clinical director, she led in-home services aimed at stabilizing families and preventing involvement with the child welfare system. She has also facilitated 10-week grief groups for those impacted by homicide and served as a supervisory social worker in a non-public school for students with learning differences, emotional challenges, and autism. Tonya now provides virtual counseling for individuals and couples.)

Treating Trauma Using Chairwork and Parts Work  (3 CE Credits) 

Chairwork Psychotherapy is an experiential modality that offers a powerful framework for trauma healing and recovery. This trauma-focused model centers on two primary approaches: Trauma-Centered Storytelling and Confrontational Dialogues for interpersonal mistreatment.

Trauma-Centered Storytelling involves the patient recounting a trauma narrative multiple times within a session, with the therapist's support, to promote emotional catharsis and integration. Confrontational Dialogues allow patients to express and process a full cycle of emotions—anger, fear, love, grief—by engaging with imagined representations of those who have harmed them. A key component of this process is the opportunity for a "redecision," empowering the patient to shift their relationship to the trauma and reclaim agency.

This experiential workshop introduces therapists to Chairwork and Parts Work through brief lectures, storytelling, and unrehearsed live clinical demonstrations. Participants will leave with tools and insight to apply these approaches in their work with clients navigating trauma, PTSD, and grief.

 

( Trainer Amanda Garcia Torres, MA, LMHC, NCC, is the owner of Chairwork Therapy NYC and a certified Chairwork Psychotherapist as well as a trained Voice Dialogue Practitioner. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Chairwork Psychotherapy Initiative, which offers the world’s first Chairwork certification program. Amanda regularly teaches and shares her expertise in Chairwork Psychotherapy and Parts Work with clinicians across the U.S. and internationally. Her presentations and writings cover a range of topics, including Chairwork, trauma recovery, social justice, and identity issues.)

New Strategies for Working with Veterans (3 CE Credits) 

This skills-focused training is designed to enhance caseworkers’ ability to effectively engage with veterans, support their daily needs, and promote their participation in outpatient mental health services when appropriate. This course emphasizes practical tools and approaches for building rapport and facilitating access to care in a way that honors veterans’ experiences and fosters trust.

Participants will be introduced to strengths-based case management, motivational interviewing techniques for the assessment process, and strategies for developing short-term case plans. Through structured modules and interactive components, the training aims to equip professionals with actionable methods to support veterans in setting and achieving meaningful goals, while also navigating the complexities of behavioral health engagement.

(Trainer, Chauncey D. Hester Sr., LMSW, currently serves as a clinical therapist at Osawatomie State Hospital in Kansas, where he provides mental health case management to patients in a correctional setting. His professional background includes 18 years of dedicated work with individuals experiencing homelessness, veterans, and immigrant communities. Chauncey has extensive experience across multiple areas of social work, including community practice in Missouri, child welfare in both Kansas and Missouri, school social work, corrections, and hospital-based care. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1995 to 1996.)
