The Psychoanalytic Approach to the Treatment of Eating Disorders (3 CE Credits)

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

This course will discuss how to assess patients for and treat eating disorders. The course will go review the various stages of treatment beginning with weight restoration, medical rehabilitation and the incorporation of a consistent meal plan. Underlying dynamics associated with the development and maintenance of eating disorders will be addressed. The course will discuss the treatment of eating disorders utilizing significant theoretical concepts, eating disorder specific interventions and fundamentals of general psychoanalytic practice.

 

(Trainer: Rachelle Heinemann is a licensed mental health counselor in private practice. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image issues. She is currently pursuing her CEDS (certified eating disorder specialist) and is in individual and group supervision with eating disorder experts. She has experience working in a practice that specializes in eating disorders. She was trained psychoanalytically at Training Institute for Mental Health. Training included classes, group and individual supervision, client caseload in the clinic, and group presentations. Rachelle has taught an undergraduate course in eating disorders.).

Psychodrama Interventions with Adults, Couples, and Children: The Basics (3 CE Credits)

1:45 PM - 4:45 PM EST

Most often used in groups, Psychodrama and Sociometry are part of a powerful experiential modality first used by Jacob L. Moreno (ref). In this course, participants will learn the basic history of this modality, and will leave with 8 basic skills that can readily be applied in sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to be a part of the interventions while they are being taught, as the course is almost entirely experiential as well.

 

(Trainer: Bruchy Moskovics is a psychotherapist and Child Life Specialist. She is training in the psychodrama modality under several premiere clinicians, including Dr. Tian Dayton, a direct student of Zerka Moreno. Bruchy runs psychodrama groups and utilizes this technique in group work, individual work, as well as with couples and children.)
